AGM 2020

As you may know we normally hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year in May or June. Due to the ongoing situation with Coronavirus, the safety and wellbeing of staff, members, volunteers and trustees of the Centre is our highest priority. Therefore it has been decided to hold this year’s AGM online as a “virtual” meeting rather than at the Centre itself.

This year the AGM will be held on Thursday 18 June at 3pm via Zoom. 

You will find attached the usual reports, accounts and notices attached below. If you would like to attend, and we hope you can, please sign up here and we will send you the joining instructions. 

Please be aware that whilst the trustees have approved the accounts, due to the coronavirus there is currently a delay with the accountants officially approving them. We are hopeful that this will be resolved before the AGM and we do not anticipate any problems.

Changes

To help us in the future the trustees are recommending that we change some elements of our constitution. As well as bringing our constitution up to date, it will allow us to hold AGMs online or virtually (and further to dispense with the obligation to hold AGMs altogether if it is not practical to do so). It will also allows us to dispense with the obligation that all trustees retire at an AGM and then seek re-election. 

We realise that the AGM is a good occasion to gather together and we had a great 20th anniversary celebration of the Centre at last year’s AGM in particular. Holding an AGM in person will be our first choice but the amendments will allow us to continue to run the Centre in the best way possible if we find ourselves in a position where we can't. We certainly do not wish to become less transparent about the Centre but to adapt as situations arise. Our Trustees explain this in more detail here and we ask you all to read this carefully and ask any questions you may have.

This year's AGM will be held online via Zoom on Thursday 18 June at 3pm. It is free to attend but please register your interest. 

Voting

Please be aware that only paid members are eligible to vote at the AGM. To find out more about becoming a member please visit our membership page

Can't attend?

If you can't attend but have questions you want to ask please email them to our Centre Manager Pippa or Mark. You can 'send' a Proxy to vote on your behalf (subject to you being a paid member and we receive your Proxy Voting Form by 16 June). 

What do I need to join?

Joining is really simple and you do not need special equipment.

All you need is a smartphone or computer with:

  • speakers
  • a microphone (for questions)
  • a camera (optional)
