Yoga is an ancient discipline bringing together physical, mental and spiritual practices. It is designed to relax your mind and strengthen your body. It is widely recommended for people with Multiple Sclerosis and is included in the NICE guidelines. As with all our classes, our group is designed for people with MS. Everyone is invited to do as much as they feel is comfortable for them. If someone wishes, they can do part or all of the class in a chair.
Each Yoga class includes a ‘warm up’ to prepare for movement, followed by postures that will gently stretch and strengthen the body. The class always ends with a relaxation exercise.
Yoga can help with:
'I leave the Monday evening class feeling calm, relaxed and ready for the week. I miss it if I can't make it but am able to put some of the practice into place at home too. I would encourage anyone thinking about it but not sure or if they think "I can't do that!" to give it a go. There's nothing to lose, but believe me - so much to gain. Go on! Do it! It's for everyone.'
