What happens during oxygen treatment

The sessions are run by our fully trained, volunteer oxygen operators.

Once everyone is comfortable the door to the chamber is closed and the operator will begin to pressurise the chamber. It will feel similar to the pressurisation of an airplane. Once at the required ‘depth’ you will put on a mask and the hour will begin. During the session the chamber will be pressurised to the equivalent diving depth of 16.5ft, 24ft or 33ft. You will spend the hour breathing normally and many of our members take this time to read, listen to music or simply enjoy having time to themselves.

After an hour the chamber is gradually depressurised. While this happens you can take your mask off and the chamber can feel a little cooler.
