Most
of the following treatments are free
of charge, although a voluntary contribution per treatment is welcomed.
The Pathway Scheme
This is an Exercise Referral Scheme for people with conditions
such as Coronary Heart Disease, general mobility problems and also
for people with MS. It is not a substitution for physiotherapy or
rehabilitation and should not be used as such, but it is a way to
increase physical activity in people that benefit from it.

We use a neurological approach to help participants control and
co-ordinate movement patterns, reduce spasticity and encourage more normal movements and
to regain functional abilities. Treatments are tailored and then monitored to the
individual needs of each MS person. |

At the Centre a Chamber which can accommodate up to 8 people is
pressurized with
air to equivalent water depths of 8, 16 or 24 feet, depending on the participants
response. Pure oxygen is then breathed through a face mask for an hour. Many gain relief
from symptoms and regular treatment can have a beneficial long-term effect.

“I have had very difficult times and I could not have got
through without counselling. It has made me come though to see
life more positively" |
There is no doubt that MS can cause much
distress to both the individual and their family which is why the
Centre offers a confidential face-to face counselling service to help
deal with the emotional effects and concerns that living with MS (or
living with an MS person) can bring.
Acupuncture is part of the healing method of
ancient Chinese medicine. The Acupuncturist at the Centre is Ron Piercy.
He is available by appointment on Thursdays between 11:00
and 17:00 Ron also practices Acupressure
and Reiki and can often incorporate this within the session.
Massage Therapy
Massage
Therapy aims to provide people with time and space for a relaxing and
soothing experience in a warm, supportive atmosphere.
Massage improves the circulation.
It relaxes tense muscles and is an excellent way to unwind and help
restore a sense of well being and balance.

Yoga
is able to assist people with MS. It’s gentle movements and breathing and
meditation techniques improve and help maintain energy flow with minimal
physical effort. Fitness and clarity of the mind are improved, whilst
further degeneration can in many cases be slowed down.
Reiki is a popular, gentle and effective therapy. The therapist works with
their hands on or just off the body and so it is non-invasive but provides
effective relief from pain or stress and you will leave feeling refreshed
and deeply relaxed
Dietary
Advice
Research shows that the nutritional plan can help people living with MS by
helping combat fatigue and increasing resistance to infection. We provide
information (books and leaflets).
Spinal Reflexology
Spinal Reflexology works by gently releasing the muscles around the
vertebrae of the whole spine including the shoulders, neck & pelvis. This
enables the underlying nerves to send correct information to the brain,
thereby helping to allow normal functioning to return to all parts of the
body & organs that are supplied at that level.
