“I was devastated when I found out I had Multiple Sclerosis, then I found out about the Centre. I couldn’t be without it – it’s done so much for me. I’ve been coming to the Centre since 1983. ”

“Without the Centre, I’d be really struggling – it gives me so much support. The physiotherapy, oxygen therapy and counselling have helped me cope with my MS. I would have been in despair without the Centre.”

Therapies

Physiotherapy

We use a neurological approach to help participants control and co-ordinate movement patterns, reduce spasticity and encourage more normal movements and to regain functional abilities. Treatments are tailored and then monitored to the individual needs of each person.

Physiotherapy has a vital role in helping people to cope with the daily challenges of living with MS.

Fitness Advice

We have a qualified  Personal Trainer and GP Exercise Referral Specialist who can discuss your fitness requiments whether you choose to attend the Therapy Centre or use your own gym or recreational exercises facility.

Oxygen Therapy

At the Centre we have a barochamber which can accommodate up to 7 people is pressurised up to twice normal atmospheric pressure with air depending on the participants response. Pure oxygen is then breathed through a face mask for an hour. Many people gain relief from symptoms, in particular fatigue and bladder function.  Regular treatment can have a beneficial long-term effect.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy aims to provide people with time and space for a relaxing and soothing experience in a warm, supportive atmosphere. Massage improves the circulation. It relaxes tense muscles and is an excellent way to unwind and help restore a sense of well being and balance. Download a leaflet here.
