Physiotherapy
We use a neurological approach to help participants control and co-ordinate movement patterns, reduce spasticity and encourage more normal movements and to regain functional abilities. Treatments are tailored and then monitored to the individual needs of each person.
Physiotherapy has a vital role in helping people to cope with the daily challenges of living with MS.
Fitness Advice
We have a qualified Personal Trainer and GP Exercise Referral Specialist who can discuss your fitness requiments whether you choose to attend the Therapy Centre or use your own gym or recreational exercises facility.
Oxygen Therapy
At the Centre we have a barochamber which can accommodate up to 7 people is pressurised up to twice normal atmospheric pressure with air depending on the participants response. Pure oxygen is then breathed through a face mask for an hour. Many people gain relief from symptoms, in particular fatigue and bladder function. Regular treatment can have a beneficial long-term effect.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy aims to provide people with time and space for a relaxing and soothing experience in a warm, supportive atmosphere. Massage improves the circulation. It relaxes tense muscles and is an excellent way to unwind and help restore a sense of well being and balance. Download a leaflet here.
Foot Care
Our Foot Care practitioner uses a variety of methods to help you and your feet, providing advice on all aspects of footcare.
Reflexology
A unique relaxing foot massage which can help in a variety of different ways including reducing anxiety, stress and tension.
Yoga
Yoga is able to assist people with MS. It’s gentle movements and breathing and meditation techniques improve and help maintain energy flow with minimal physical effort. Fitness and clarity of the mind are improved, whilst further degeneration can in many cases be slowed down.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is part of the healing method of ancient Chinese medicine. The Acupuncturist at the Centre is Ron Piercy. He is available by appointment on Thursdays between 11:00 and 17:00 Ron also practices Acupressure and Reiki and can often incorporate this within the session.
Spinal Reflexology
Spinal Reflexology works by gently releasing the muscles around the vertebrae of the whole spine including the shoulders, neck & pelvis.
Reiki
Reiki is a popular, gentle and effective therapy. The therapist works with their hands on or just off the body and so it is non-invasive but provides effective relief from pain or stress and you will leave feeling refreshed and deeply relaxed
