Volunteer

The BMSTC is an independent, registered charity. We not only rely on donations to run the Centre, but also upon the time, skills and dedication of our many volunteers.

We need your time

Here are some examples of volunteering at the Centre.

Fundraising Collectors

We have over 30 supermarket and street collections throughout the year which can raise a huge amount of money. Volunteers are needed to collect for us for a 1 - 2 hour period. Collections are all held locally so there is bound to be one near you. Contact Tracy at the centre if you can help?

Join a Fundraising Event

We often need volunteers to help at many of our fundraising events during the year. Tasks range from manning stalls at sales, to marshalling at our Ramble. We also need people who are able to assist with setting up equipment for our stalls at outside events. You could enter a team in our Golf Tournament or Quiz Night, or even bake a cake for us to sell at our Centre Sale? If you are a runner, running is a great way to raise money form us. Just find a few sponsors and then go do your thing.

Organise your Own Event

Why not run an Easter Egg Draw at your office or local pub or organise a Barn Dance in aid of the centre.

Oxygen Therapy Operator

We run Oxygen Therapy sessions on a daily basis and are always looking for willing volunteers to take on the task of operating the chamber. Each session lasts around 1½ to 2 hours. If you can spare us a couple of hours a week, maybe you can help?

Gardener/Groundskeeper

It is very important that we provide a welcoming image to members and visitors at the Centre. The car park area and small garden area at the back of the Centre need weekly attention over the spring and summer months in particular to keep these areas looking neat and tidy.

Receptionists

The Centre’s reception is completely manned and co-ordinated by a team of volunteers. Each day is divided into a morning and afternoon shift. Each shift is manned by 1 or 2 volunteers. It is a great way to socialise and to develop practical skills.

Other Tasks at the Centre

We occasionally require people to help with tasks or projects which we are involved with at the time. Volunteers may be needed to ‘stuff’ envelopes, co-ordinate information or even visit groups to speak about the Centre. If you think you could help, we would love to hear from you.

Trustees

Trustees are Members of the Management Team which runs the centre. We always need people, ideally with some experience of management in an organisation.
