About the Walk
There is a choice of three walks in all: you may want to join members of the MS Centre using wheelchairs and walk along the Thames and over Marsh Lock; alternatively you could choose
one of the more demanding routes.
The Marsh Lock Walk
(Approx. 1.5 Miles)
If you are in a wheelchair or have problems walking any distance, then this is the walk for you.
The Six Mile Stroll
(Approx. 6 Miles!!)
This walk will take you over Henley Bridge and along the Thames towards the Flower Pot at Aston where you can stop for a lunch or a quick drink before returning over the hills and back into Henley.
The Half Marathon Walk
(Approx. 13.1 Miles)
This walk promises to give you a real challenge as you go through Henley Town to join the Oxfordshire Way along the Fairmile. The route will take you up into Fawley, past Luxters Winery and into the village of Hambleden before crossing the river at Mill End. The route then joins up with the Six Mile Strollers at the Flower Pot in Aston before heading back to the River and Rowing Museum. This is a challenging walk and you should come equipped with walking boots and suitable clothing for a hike.
Refreshments
There will be water stations along the Half Marathon route
where you can have a drink and pick up a snack. However, you may wish to use the excellent catering facilities at the River & Rowing Museum or enjoy the contents of your Goody Bag by the banks of the Thames.
Getting There
By Car: follow signs to the River & Rowing Museum and Mill Meadows around the town.
By Bus: regular bus services from Reading, Marlow, Maidenhead and High Wycombe
By Rail: Services from Reading and Maidenhead via Twyford.
Raising Sponsorship
Walking for MileS is the major annual fundraising event of the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre, and we hope you will choose to raise sponsorship for this worthy cause. This year Sony UK has very kindly donated a SLR digital camera to give to the person who raises the highest amount of sponsorship. However, if you prefer not to raise sponsorship, you may still take part, but we ask you to make a donation of at least £20 in addition to the £5 enrolment fee. Please complete the entry form and return it to the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre.
