Background

The Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (BMSTC) was established: to provide a range of therapy treatments, guidance and support; to encourage self-help; to enable improved disease symptom management; and to promote an enhanced quality of life for people with MS, their families and carers.

Founded in 1984 and operating from a 40' x 40' Portakabin on a small rented site in Caversham, BMSTC membership and activity achieved steady growth.

Successful fund-raising during the 1990s enabled purchase of a 0.6 acre site upon which to construct a much larger purpose-built Centre.

The Centre is unique in Berkshire, as neither the NHS nor any other public or private agency provides a comparable range of services.
